Perspective
How does my perspective correlate with Indigenous Education?
Perspective can be defined as: a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.
My perspective is Squamish,
My perspective is Indigenous.
At the forefront is my Sḵwx̱wú7mesh perspective. My perspective is supported by our language and our ways of being. Our languages tells us, teach us and reaffirms us about who we are, where we come from and what we do.
I am a second language learner but our language teaches me how to be, how to react, and how to think.
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh perspective is important.
Our Indigenous ancestors and elders survived the genocide of residential schools; they survived for us
Our language did not die.
Our ways of being did not die.
We live on and we pray that Indigenous education grows in the public schools all across BC.
We pray that public educations systems can live up to their bureaucratic changes in their curriculum.
