*Please note: Before contact we did not navigate within our territory by means of an outlined/defined map. We navigated from knowledge of the land and the seasons.

Ch’ḵw’élhp no given translation. Ch’ḵwélhp and Schen̓ḵ are close to each-other. In 1880’s we had an Indian Doctor who lived there, his house was situated alongside the Soames Creek. A man and his family were land pre-emptors and wanted our Indian Doctor to move but he could not legally get him to move because it was a village. He built his home in what is now Grantham’s Landing. Ch’ḵw’élhp is a very important village for our people, where one of our ancestors originated. It was a village for our sea lion hunters.
