*Please note: Before contact we did not navigate within our territory by means of an outlined/defined map. We navigated from knowledge of the land and the seasons.

Slha7án can translate to head of the bay: the bay meaning Mosquito Creek. It is our first acknowledged village. It was one of our largest villages. Some activities we participated in were salmon fishing (coho, dog salmon, steelhead), shellfish gathering (clams, cockles, crabs) and small octopus used to be caught at high tide. We would trap muskrats or otters in the slough. We gathered cattail here too.
