Sen̓aḵw can be translated "inside at the head of" False Creek. A good location for elk, beaver, salmon, ducks, smelts, bog cranberries and cedar. Muskrats used to be in the swamp areas. At Granville Island we used to use a fish corral (large stationary fish trap). Sturgeon once were caught in False Creek. We had 2 large longhouses here that were used for hosting large gatherings. This is the infamous village that was in headlines in 1913. Our people were loaded on to a barge with their gatherings and moved to Xwmelch’sten Village.
