19 Yekw’ts

Geographical location: located west-bank of Squamish River, across from the mouth of Evans Creek.

Yekw’ts no given translation. Our people lived there until 1900’s and then it was abandoned. It was a good location for fishing. We had old rock burials here. It was an important village as it was half way up the Squamish River. Yekw’ts was an important area where a special ceremony took place.
